Strait Explorer
Explore and enjoy the magnificence of the entire Menai Strait from Penmon to Abermenai on this 3 hour cruise onboard our amazing Explorer RIB.
After meeting your skipper at St George’s Pier, you will be kitted out in life jackets and given a short safety briefing before stepping aboard, settling into your seat and preparing for your adventure.
The open RIB allows for amazing 360° views of the beautiful Menai Strait and this trip takes in the length of this fascinating and unique stretch to water.
With so much to see and explore every trip is different… Discover the history of the flying boat hangars, the stone lions, Plas Newydd and Caernarfon Castle and the admire the picturesque towns of Beaumaris, Menai Bridge and Felinheli as you cruise on by. Whatever aspects your Skipper chooses to highlight (as you certainly won’t take it all in on one trip!) with the Glyder and Eryri mountain ranges as your backdrop, you are in for a spectacular journey.
Please note: You will stay onboard for the full duration of this three hour tour and there are no toilets onboard, so please make sure you allow enough time to use our facilities when you check in.
Practical Information
Your safety and enjoyment are our top priority, and we reserve the right to amend any tour at short notice in response to real time sea state and weather conditions. In this case your skipper has complete discretion to run a safe and enjoyable alternative RIB tour, based on the duration of the tour booked.
Prior to boarding, you will be kitted out with life jackets and given a short safety briefing.
Please ensure you check-in in plenty of time and arrive promptly at the Pier. RIBS must depart on time.
No refunds are offered for no shows, latecomers or tours we cannot complete as advertised.
Our EXPLORER RIB takes a maximum of 11 passengers.
We love our furry friends but unfortunately, we cannot take dogs onboard for safety reasons.
All tours are round trips and you will stay onboard for the duration of the trip. Please make sure you have used the RibRide facilities prior to joining us.
Clothing
Our RIBs are open to the elements and we go out in most weathers including the rain, so please dress appropriately for the weather and season. It is always cooler on the water.
The aim is not to get you wet, however we cannot guarantee this, so please make sure you have a waterproof layer, as it can get a bit splashy in certain conditions. Sensible shoes, no heels! In the colder months, hats and gloves are essential. Sunglasses are also a good idea.
Life jackets are mandatory and are provided by RibRide.
Is it suitable for me?
If you are pregnant we generally advise against participating, as tours can be a bit bumpy in certain conditions. If you do want to go out, we would ask that you consult with your doctor or midwife beforehand and consider booking this as a private event so we can tailor the trip to better suit your situation and the weather conditions on the day.
